Local Health Expert Takes On The Government

From 9am till 3pm on July 24, 2010, local health expert, Jeff Scot Philips will be hosting a seminar for his weight-loss program, 'Break The Cycle', at Fit Studio 365 on Franklin Road in Roanoke, Virginia.

ROANOKE, VA, July 14, 2010 /Nutrition PR News/ -- From 9am till 3pm on July 24, 2010, local health expert, Jeff Scot Philips will be hosting a seminar for his weight-loss program, 'Break The Cycle', at Fit Studio 365 on Franklin Road in Roanoke, Virginia. As part of the program, Philips has organized a petition to regulate the types of foods that may be sold on the streets of Roanoke as part of the "street vendor" proposal.
"In one aspect of my program, 'Break The Cycle', I teach the participants how to change their 'sphere of influence,'" says Philips. "Up till this point the changes that we have tackled have been focused on creating a healthier environment at home and in the office. This is the first action we are taking to fight for our health in the community."
The proposal would allow foods such as hot-dogs and chips to be sold on the streets of Roanoke to passer-by's. Philips argues, "...these are the exact foods that are causing obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. We should be making it easier to get food that is good for us, not food that will harm us."
The region has been battling obesity and the diseases that are associated with it for years now. In 2009, the TFAH (Trust For America's Health) and the RWJF (Roberts Wood Johnson Foundation) published a report that shows 25.4 percent of adults and a whopping 31.0 percent of children in the state of Virginia to be obese.
Philips continues to address the importance of making it easier for citizens to eat healthy and sees this as an opportunity to bring healthy foods to the streets as opposed to junk foods. Philips' program, 'Break The Cycle', is an empowering health program that teaches its participants how to live a healthy life by being of aware of their every day decisions that ultimately determine their well-being.
The day-long seminar on July 24th will teach people how to truly lose weight and keep it off for good by learning how to break the habits that have kept them in our unhealthy patterns. Participants of 'Break The Cycle' range from obese to physically fit. "Many people join Break The Cycle to lose weight," Philips says, "however, some people join that are not overweight but are looking for the motivation to change eating habits, exercise habits and various other unhealthy behaviors.

Break The Cycle, Inc. Is a health program aimed at fighting obesity and other diseases by empowering its participants to make healthy decisions.
