Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Makers of Hydroxycut Products
Many people wonder whether Hydroxycut products are safe. Some that have used them now know that it may cause liver-related illnesses in consumers.
Charleston, WV, August 19, 2009 /Nutrition PR News/ -- A Class Action Lawsuit has been filed in the Kanawha County Circuit Court in Charleston, West Virginia against the manufacturers and distributors of Hydroxycut products. The complaint alleges that Defendants knew, or should have known, that the use of their product may cause liver-related illnesses in consumers. On May 1, 2009, the FDA recalled fourteen Hydroxycut products following reports of adverse effects on consumers. These reports included liver damage, elevated liver enzymes, and liver damage requiring a transplant. One death due to liver failure was reported to the FDA. Other reported health problems include cardiovascular problems, seizures, and serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis) that can cause kidney failure. Hydroxycut is a dietary supplement that promotes weight loss.
